Before deploying any AI system, your organisation needs to be able to answer yes to four questions:
- Do your departments share intelligence in real time? Not in monthly reports — in real time. Does Marketing know immediately when Sales identifies a pattern in lead quality? Does Operations know immediately when Finance updates cost modelling?
- Do you have consistent data definitions across the business? When Sales says "qualified lead" and Marketing says "qualified prospect," do they mean the same person at the same stage? If not, no AI can reconcile them.
- Is there genuine trust between your leadership functions? Not politeness — trust. The kind that means the Marketing VP acts on intelligence from Operations without assuming there's a political agenda behind it.
- Does your leadership have one shared view of revenue performance? Or do different departments bring different numbers to the same meeting and argue about which are correct?
